State Lawmakers may be taking a holiday break, but Governor Rick Snyder says he has some homework to do. Snyder plans to spend some time studying legislation waiting for his signature.

One of the bills includes the first major changes to Michigan’s Campaign Finance Law, since it was passed in 1976. The legislation doubles campaign contribution limits, and shields those who donate to groups that run controversial attack ads.

The Governor has promised to bring more transparency and accountability to political campaigns in Michigan. While he admits the bill may not be perfect, he believes its a good start. Snyder said, “When I'm out campaigning, and when I was out campaigning before, and last year when I was talking to people, if you look at what really irritates our citizens, robocalls is among the most irritating. And to say that there's additional disclaimers required on those is a plus in that bill. So I'll be looking at it over the holidays."
