Consumers Energy volunteered one of its crews late Friday to trim a tree that was preventing Lansing's Riddle Elementary School from flying an American flag from the flagpole in front of its building.
In an exclusive "What's Bugging You" report, Riddle parent Melissa Wilson brought the predicament to our attention.
Wilson said "it's good for students to learn about their heritage and being American. It's important for them to honor the flag and know the importance of the flag."
School spokesperson Bob Kolt said budget pressures would indefinitely delay the district from hiring a tree-trimming crew to do the work.
Somebody at Consumers Energy saw the report and came to the school's rescue.
Kolt says the flag should be flying next week.
