MONROE, Mich. (AP) -- Family and friends have gathered in Monroe for the funeral of a 33-year-old navigator who was one of seven Americans killed when a civilian cargo plane crashed on takeoff from Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.
The ceremony honoring Jamie Brokaw of Monroe was Sunday afternoon at Monroe Custer Airport, with members of the Patriot Guard Riders motorcycle group assisting.
MLive.com says the funeral falls on the 1-year anniversary of Brokaw's marriage to his wife Elizabeth.
All seven people aboard the National Air Cargo plane died in the April 29 crash.
The other crew members were 51-year-old Gary Stockdale of Romulus; 34-year-old Brad Hasler of Trenton; 37-year-old Jeremy Lipka of Brooklyn, Mich.; 32-year-old Rinku Summan of Canton; 36-year-old Michael Sheets of Ypsilanti; and 51-year-old Timothy Garrett, 51, of Louisville, Ky.
