A former Grand Ledge teacher and swim coach will spend at least five years in prison for having sex with a student.
Jason Algra was convicted in January of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a 17-year-old boy. He was cleared of charges involving a 15-year-old boy.
Both boys had testified that sexual encounters with Algra were consensual.
Eaton County Judge Thomas Byerly gave Algra the maximum 15 year sentence, but he'll be eligible for parole after five years.
