Fireworks Ordinances in Effect

Several communities have fireworks ordinances on the books.

That means no fireworks unless it's the day before, of, or after the Fourth of July. Even during those times, fireworks cannot be shot off during the overnight hours.

Lansing police tell us, if you're concerned, give them a call and they will investigate.

"We want people to call, from our perspective," said Sgt. Jeromy Churchill, of LPD. "I think a lot of people are like, 'They're not going to do anything,' but at the very least we want to go out and be able to tell people. We may not be able to cite them, but if we go talk to them, sometimes that ends the negative activity, and that's what most people want."

Those who are ticketed could face a fine of up to $500.
