A firefighter trainee accused of arson will get a forensics exam.

Matthew Landfair's attorney asked for that during his preliminary hearing today.

He's charged with first degree arson, which could get him life in prison.

Police say Landfair intentionally set the Alana Woods Apartments complex near the corner of Clark Road and old 27 in Dewitt Township on fire on July 14.

Twelve of them were destroyed, leaving two dozen people homeless.

Landfair lived in the complex.
