A Christmas Eve fire caused serious damage to a house in Lansing's Moores River Drive neighborhood. Lansing Fire crews tell us the home is a total loss. They are still on the scene actively fighting the fire. Everyone in the home got out safely.
Steve Babcock, The Lansing Fire Department's Public Information Officer, told News 10 that this has been a difficult fire to fight. He says the fire got a good head start on crews. He expects fire crews to remain on the scene for a few more hours. A CATA bus that is not in service is serving as a warming station for firefighters.
The fire started about 7:30 a.m. at 3017 S. Cambridge Road.
Initial reports are that the fire spread from a fireplace, but fire crews are still investigating the cause.
The house had no electricity as a result of the weekend ice storm.
