An error in judgement likely caused the death of a Leslie man, who was found dead with a 40 foot tree on top of him Saturday.
The Ingham County Sheriff's Office says the man was out chopping wood for most of the day on his girlfriend's property in Leslie. When his girlfriend returned from the store Saturday afternoon, she became concerned when he wasn't home.
She found him in the woods about a half mile off the road. The Sheriff's Office says the man had been deceased for some time before the death was reported just after 5 p.m.
The tree was approximately 40 feet tall and 9-10 inches around, according to the Sheriff's Office. The man's death is considered an accident.
