Great news for drivers-- the road work in East Lansing is ahead of schedule.
Because of that, MDOT crews will begin paving a portion of Grand River this weekend. Traffic will be shifted to either the eastbound or westbound lanes of Grand River between Michigan Avenue and Bogue Street on Sunday.
One lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction on either side of Grand River Avenue, with a traffic shift, depending on which side crews will be working and no left turns will be allowed.
Drivers are encouraged to find other ways to get around or plan extra time during this phase of construction. Crews hope to have it finished by the end of June.
Meanwhile, work will continue along Michigan Avenue, between Harrison Avenue and the split with M-43, while paving is taking place along the boulevard section of M-43.
Starting Tuesday May 28, eastbound traffic will be shifted to the south half of Michigan Avenue while crews begin construction on the north half and make median improvements.
All work on Michigan Avenue is expected to be complete by end of June.
