Computer scammers are pretending to be East Lansing cops.

Someone in Charlotte was surfing the web when a pop-up window appeared saying the East Lansing Police Dept. and Homeland Security had frozen the computer due to a security risk.

It demanded $300 to unlock the computer. The victim paid it online.

East Lansing police want you to contact your police department if it happens to you.
