JACKSON - Fire destroys a duplex in Jackson overnight. Fire crews rushed to the building in the 700 block of Franklin street at about 12:45a.m. Wednesday. The fire, which looked to have begun toward the front of the building, was already quite large when they arrived.
Both sides of the duplex were occupied. Firefighters say no one was hurt. The building itself is expected to be a total loss.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but firefighters say some signs point to it being suspicious. They say it took their crew less than 5 minutes to arrive at the fire, and the blaze had already progressed quite far. Their investigation will continue.
