LANSING - The body of a 17-year-old man pulled from the Red Cedar River in Lansing Thursday was a suspect in a recent gas station robbery. Artvon Lamar Moore's body was discovered floating in the river near River Street and Spring Street Friday morning. Eaton County Sheriff's Department Lt. Jeff Campbell says Moore was wanted for the November 20 robbery a gas station in the 7400 block of West Saginaw Highway.

Lt. Campbell says Moore and two other men robbed the gas station and made their getaway in a taxicab. Police stopped the taxi soon afterward, and the three took off on foot. Two other suspects were caught, and it was thought the third had gone into the river to avoid capture. Authorities searched the river that night, but did not find anything.

Lt. Campbell says that, through the course of their investigation, Artvon Moore was identified as the third, missing, suspect.

A medical examiner determined that Moore's cause of death was drowning and there were no signs of foul play.
