CHARLOTTE - The verdict is guilty in the case of a Charlotte doctor accused of molesting his female patients. A jury took a day-and-a-half of deliberations to find Dr. Kassem Hallak guilty on 8 of the 11 counts of criminal sexual conduct against him. 11 women accused Hallak of touching them inappropriately while they were in his examination room. One woman said that Hallak had sex with her in his examination room. Another victim was 12-years-old at the time of the molestation. The assaults started in 2006, but a victim did not come forward until 2010.
Hallak did not react when the verdict was read Wednesday afternoon. Dr. Hallak testified in his own defense during the trial and maintained that his behavior was consistent with established medical techniques.
Hallak faces up to 15 years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for July 31st.
