Detroit's Bankruptcy Trial Starts Tuesday

Detroit's day in court is fast approaching.

The trial to determine whether the city's bankruptcy plan will be approved starts on Tuesday.

A spokesman for Detroit's emergency manager says the city hopes to cut its $12 billion in debt to a more manageable $5 billion.

Pensioners have already approved the settlement plan.

The city sought court protection just over a year ago and is the largest US city to ever file for bankruptcy.
