DETROIT (AP) City officials are expanding online auctions of Detroit homes to include two more neighborhoods.
Open houses are scheduled Saturday and Sunday for the Boston Edison and Osborn areas. The city's Land Bank will start auctioning two homes per day beginning May 27.
The online auction had been exclusive to East English Village on Detroit's eastside. More than 1,000 people toured 12 listed homes in that area two weeks ago. Five houses were bought in the auction's first week. The city says each of the houses had been abandoned at least three years.
Thirteen listings in Boston Edison on Detroit's west side have been added to the www.BuildingDetroit.org website. Ten houses in the eastside Osborn area also have been added.
The auctions are part of Detroit's blight fighting strategy.
