DETROIT (AP) -- A woman has been charged with child abuse after authorities say she left her two children alone in a Detroit home that was broken into.
Deedra Pitts is to be arraigned Saturday in Detroit District Court on two counts of fourth-degree child abuse.
Wayne County prosecutor's office spokeswoman Maria Miller says she doesn't believe Pitts has a lawyer.
Prosecutors and Detroit police say a 10-year-old Detroit boy left alone with his 10-month-old sister fled with her to safety following the break-in Thursday morning.
Police were called to the home after the boy called 911 and went to a neighbor's house seeking help.
No injuries were reported. The children were taken to a police precinct and released to the father.
