INDEPENDENCE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- The Oakland County medical examiner's office has ruled as a homicide the death of a 55-year-old man after a confrontation with a teenager at a Detroit-area Hank Williams Jr. concert.
Sheriff's officials announced the finding Friday as they investigate Tuesday's death of Westland resident Robert Kobe. Authorities say a 15-year-old boy shoved Kobe on DTE Energy Music Theatre's concourse Sunday, and he struck his head on the concrete.
The sheriff's department says it expects to finish its investigation by the end of next week and present it to prosecutors. The Wayne teen was released pending the investigation's completion.
The teen was at the concert in Independence Township with his father, a friend of Kobe's. The victim's son, Cory Kobe, told the Detroit Free Press the death appeared to be accidental.
