DeWitt Twp. Man Killed in Car Accident

A DeWitt Twp. man was killed in a crash Tuesday night.

It happened on Turner St. north of Sheridan in DeWitt Twp. just after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

DeWitt Twp. Police Chief Brian Russell tells News 10 it appears the 34-year-old man was walking along the side of Turner St. when he was struck by a car being driven by a 59-year-old DeWitt Twp. man. The driver continued on for about a quarter mile, according to police, before hitting a mailbox and getting stuck in a snowbank. He was taken to the hospital with an unknown medical condition.

It does not appear alcohol was involved.

The 34-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police are not identifying him until his family has been notified.

Turner Rd. will be closed until approximately 10:15 p.m. Tuesday.
