DeWitt, MI - A local bakery has a lot to celebrate this morning.
It is National Chocolate Chip Day and Sweetie-licious Bakery Cafe, based in DeWitt, is expanding their business.
Sweetie-licious is one of the most popular bakeries in mid-Michigan and they are celebrating the grand opening of their newest location in East Grand Rapids.
Owner Linda Hundt was also just notified that her company's pies will be featured in the holiday Williams-Sonoma catalog.
The good news doesn't stop there, Hundt's farm and bakery will also be featured in a PBS documentary. She is excited that more of the U.S. will be able to hear about and experience her mid-Michigan treats.
But, if you still have chocolate chips on the brain, Hundt has some tips on how to make chocolate chip cookies even better.
She suggests chilling your dough in the refrigerator before putting it in the oven. This will keep cookies fluffier.
Plus, she says one of the biggest mistakes bakers make is forgetting to use fresh ingredients. According to Hundt, fresh, high-quality ingredients can make all the difference.
And chocolate chip recipes don't stop with cookies. You can try baking muffins, pies and more with chocolate chips.
Hundt says you can change things up and create an ice cream sandwich using two chocolate chip cookies and your favorite ice cream in the middle.
