"It's all about the kids," Carter said.
Mid-Michigan crossing guards got training Tuesday to help keep your kids safe. It is state-mandated.
Guards and volunteers this year also learned about diabetes and autism, in case a child has an emergency.
The Lansing Safety Council says there are some new crossing guards, but lots of alums, too.
"Most of these guards have been working their corners for many years," said Suzy Carter, executive director at the Lansing Area Safety Council. "They're very dedicated and it's all about the kids."
As a driver, remember to stop as soon as a crossing guard steps off the curb. You may drive through an intersection after the guard crosses with a group and steps completely off a curb.
