OSCODA (AP) -- A northern Michigan couple has been charged in the death of the wife's 73-year-old father who was in their care.
TV station WPBN-WTOM report Friday that Rachel and Carl Bruce of Oscoda are charged with murder, first-degree vulnerable adult abuse and second-degree vulnerable adult abuse.
Investigators say Herman Ritchey Jr.'s body was found in October 2012 in a home about 140 miles north of Detroit. Open sores and scabs were found on his body.
An autopsy determined Ritchey died of malnutrition due to dementia and neglect. Authorities say he also had not been given prescribed medication.
Rachel and Carl Bruce are being held without bond. Their next court date is Aug. 6.
