Congressional Candidate Calls for Debate

"My daughter calls me Betty Bargain Hunter, but you have to set the right priorities."

The woman running against Congressman Tim Walberg in Michigan's 7th district wants a debate. Former state representative Pam Byrnes called Walberg a "poster child for what's wrong in Washington" and said he needs to explain himself. The Democrat is upset Walberg supported Paul Ryan's budget proposal that made cuts to Medicare, health care and education. "I certainly understand wanting to cut the budget and making sure that we are fiscally responsible," said Byrnes. "I'm all for that. My daughter calls me Betty Bargain Hunter, but you have to set the right priorities." Walberg's campaign managed said he looks forward to a debate and to hearing Byrnes explain why she wants Nancy Pelosi to be Speaker of the House. He also accused her of supporting tax increases during the recession.
