FOWLERVILLE, MI -- Thousands of people from Fowlerville to Howell are without phone service tonight.
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office says it's due to a damaged optic fiber cable from earlier today.
That line is owned by AT&T but it does transmit signals through other carriers. So far only AT&T and Verizon customers have been affected.
Three western areas of Livingston County are affected including Conway, Handy and Iosco.
Landline phone numbers beginning in (517) 223-xxxx are affected and can only make calls to other (517) 223-xxxx numbers.
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office has placed a deputy with a radio at the Fowlerville Fire Station. If you are affected and have an emergency call (517) 223- 8561.
There is no timetable for repair.
