Coat Drive Held at Lansing-area Shopping Center

LANSING TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- A Volunteers of America Michigan-sponsored coat drive is being held this weekend at a Lansing-area shopping center.

All donated items are given to Volunteers of America, which distributes them to needy children and adults in the area.

Volunteer Karen Hassankhani says a highlight each year is a visit from an anonymous couple who drop off more than 50 newly purchased coats.

Hassankhani says Saturday was no exception. The couple dropped off 57 new coats.

The coat drive continues Sunday in an empty storefront at Eastwood Towne Center next to Bath & Body Works.
