One cow perished in a barn fire on a farm north of Fowlerville Wednesday afternoon. Another eleven cows escaped because of the quick actions of a neighbor.
The unidentified neighbor tells News 10 he spotted the flames coming from the barn. He ran over, took an axe and hacked open the barn door to let the cattle out.
Firefighters from Fowlerville, Leroy and paramedics from Williamston were called to the scene, but the barn burned to the ground as hay stored inside fed the fire.
The farm is located on Nicholson Road in Conway Township.
