A 41-year-old man is at Sparrow Hospital with serious injuries after he was hit by a car crossing the street Saturday night.
It happened on Grand River and Dawn Avenue in Meridian Township around 9 p.m.
Police say the area is not well lit and there is no crosswalk. Officers believe there was little the driver, a 42-year-old man, could do to avoid the crash.
The victim, from Ontario, Canada, was with a group of friends when he was hit.
Investigators do not believe alcohol was a factor, but are still looking into the crash.
