East Lansing police say you will never be told to pay a court fine over the phone.

 

There's a new phone scam making the rounds in mid-Michigan.

Four people in East Lansing have reported getting calls from someone claiming to be Capt. David Andrews with the Ingham Co. Federal Warrants Division.

The victims are told they have a warrant for skipping jury duty and can pay the fine over the phone using a Green Dot prepaid card. The caller mentions Judge Andrea Larkin and the 54B District Court.
