Central Michigan University is sending out an alert that a student has tested positive for bacterial meningitis. Nicholas Collins of Livonia lived in Trout Hall and was contagious between April 30 and May 7. Anyone who had contact with him during that time is at risk and should see a doctor. You're also asked to contact the Wayne County Health Department or CMU Health Services. Bacterial meningitis is by far the more serious form of the disease and can be deadly in some cases. It can be spread by coughing, sneezing and kissing.
