The combination of two festivals started a busy weekend in Mid-Michigan. Old Town's largest fundraiser, the Festival of the Moon started five years after Festival of the Sun began in 1999. Festival of the Sun is a beer and wine sampling event with close to 110 beers and wines available, while the Festival of the Moon is full pours of Bells Beer all night long. They also feature a scrapfest and unique art. The two-day festival helps directly pay for many of the free events that Old Town offers during the year like Chalk of the Town, the Old Town Farmers Market and the Compassionate Feast.

There are several other festivals going on this weekend:

Summer Solstice Jazz Festival in East Lansing
Juneteeth Freedom Fest in Lansing
Yankee Doodle Days in Grand Ledge
Red Cedar Jubilee in Williamston
Blue Grass Festival in Charlotte
Train Expo in Owosso
