LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- A compilation of columns by Pulitzer-prize-winning Washington Post columnist David S. Broder for a book on Lake Michigan's Beaver Island will benefit the Beaver Island Rural Health Center.
The Lansing State Journal reports that Broder visited the 54-square-mile island often between his 1951 honeymoon and his death in 2011.
His four sons chose the columns and photos for the book, which costs $25. They also paid the printing costs so that proceeds from the books will go to the health center. The center provides care for several hundred full-time residents and summer visitors.
Broder's columns tackled many topics, some of which remain relevant today, including lake levels.
