A legislative committee has effectively killed Gov. Rick Snyder's hopes for a state-controlled healthcare exchange by not taking action on a bill that would have set that in motion.
Gov. Snyder wanted to create MI Health Marketplace, a website where people could shop for their healthcare.
This is a requirement in the Affordable Care Act, but states were given the option of making it a state-run, a joint state-federal partnership, or a federally run program.
