Bicyclist From Missouri Struck by Semi in St. Johns

An 18-year-old bicyclist from Missouri ran a stop sign in St. johns and was struck by a semi. He is hospitalized in serious condition.

ST. JOHNS - A young bicyclists is seriously hurt when he collides with a tractor/trailer in St. Johns.

The accident happened at about 11:30a.m. in the downtown area. A press release from the St. Johns Police Department states that the 18-year-old cyclist was traveling north on Lansing Street when he ran a stop sign at State Street and struck an eastbound semi-tractor/trailer.

The teen's injuries are serious. He was taken to Sparrow Hospital.

Police say he is from Missouri.

The initial investigation shows that the bicyclist was at fault for failing to stop at the stop sign, according to St. Johns Police.
