Congressman Mike Rogers announces he will not be running for reelection in November.

He has held the 8th District Congressional seat since 2001 and serves as Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.

The Congressman stated on Twitter "I am most proud of our work to turn the House Intelligence Committee into a true legislative and oversight body."

The 8th district covers part of Oakland County, and all of Livingston and Ingham Counties, including the cities of: Dansville, East Lansing, Haslett, Holt, Lansing, Leslie, Mason, Meridian Township, Okemos. Onondaga, Stockbridge, Webberville, and Williamston.

He made the announcement on WJR Radio on the Paul Smith Show. He announced that he will be starting a national radio show to discuss matters of national security and other issues. The show will debut in January, 2015.
