Arson Charge Brought After Fire That Forced Home's Demolition

JACKSON - A man accused of setting a fire that burned down a multi-family home In Jackson was in court Wednesday. Rodney J. McKee, 25, was charged with arson, as well as carrying a concealed weapon. He has an outstanding criminal warrant for criminal sexual conduct stemming from a separate incident..

McKee is accused of setting the fire that destroyed a home in the 700 block of Steward Avenue Tuesday afternoon. Police got a description of the suspect and his car from a witness. A Jackson County Sheriff's deputy pulled the car over in Summit Township and arrested Steward that afternoon.

No one was hurt in the fire, which lasted for hours. The two-story structure had to be immediately demolished for safety reasons.
