Grand Ledge, MI - The most popular animal adoption event kicks off Friday in Mid-Michigan.
The Save-a-Life Adoptathon will take place all weekend at the PetSmart in Delta Township.
Volunteers will have a booth set up for adoptions Friday from 1 to 7 p.m., and on both Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Cats, dogs and other animals are available for adoption.
There will be reduced adoption rates, family entertainment, information about community adoption resources and details on how you can start volunteering with animals.
The Mid-Michigan Cat Rescue, PetSmart Charities, the Capital Area Humane Society, the Greyhound Retirement Adoption Care and Education non-profit, and the Animal Resource Network teamed up to make the bi-annual event possible.
On average, over 100 animals have been adopted during past Adoptathon weekends.
The Mid-Michigan Cat Rescue rescued about 700 cats last year. Of these cats, about 500 were adopted. If you are interested in volunteering with the cat rescue, you can visit their website and click on the volunteering tab.
