A newborn baby was found alongside a dirt road in Newaygo County, Michigan Monday. The baby was found alive and taken to an area hospital for treatment.
"He brought me over to about here and that's when I saw what was a rabbit at first."
Bobby the dog was sniffing at something under this satellite dish right next to the road. Jeff got closer and suddenly it dawned on him.
"Then it moved that's when I started yellin."
He called out to his neighbor down the street to call 911 and shouted for his wife and daughter. They wrapped the infant in a towel to keep it warm and waited for emergency workers.
They were worried. It was chilly out. But once then the baby started crying.
Paramedics took the baby to Gerber Hospital. Deputies started investigating and found the baby's mother. Neighbors say they believe the mom is a young teenager from the area.
Meanwhile Jeff Kopp says he thinks God had something to do with why he and his dog Bobby went to the place that they found the baby.
"I feel that we were led to that place ok because it was out of the ordinary for me to come in this direction."
The Newaygo County Sheriff's Department says it does not know the condition of the infant right now. The baby's mother was also taken to Gerber Hospital for evaluation.
