LANSING - Michigan State police report that their initial findings indicate 8 people were killed on Michigan roads over the Memorial Day holiday weekend. Of the eight fatalities, three were known to have used restraints, and alcohol was a known factor in two of the seven crashes.
The 2012 Memorial Day holiday weekend ran from 6 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012, through midnight on Monday, May 28, 2012.
In 2011 there were 9 traffic fatalities.
