After a full-alarm fire burned for hours in Lansing at Spartan Oil Corp., clean-up crews worked to clear the hazardous chemicals from the site. Some oil did spill into the Grand River, but the Department of Environmental Quality says everything has been contained, and the water is safe.
Lansing wastewater officials say some of the run-off that did have spillage in it is currently being held in a huge basin and will be cleaned before it's put back into the water system.
Overall, everyone is thankful much of the oil was contained and did not seriously impact the city's water system.
