Responding to a 9-1-1 call Lansing firefighters arrived to find the Spartan Oil Corp. engulfed in flames with hundred foot plumes of dark black smoke rising from the motor oil storage and maintenance facility.
Firefighters believe that the fire originated in the 4,000 square foot motor oil storage area.
No serious injuries or deaths occurred.
The business says despite part of their building labeled a total loss business will continue as usual for the more than 70 employees.
Broadcast reports, an independent environmental worker and city employee all independently confirm that an undetermined amount of oil has spilled into the Grand River located close to the business.
