Michigan Corrections Officers Picket Closing of Gun Towers

In Jackson Tuesday, union members of Michigan's Corrections Organization held an informational picket near the prison complex. MCO members say they have heard talk of budget cuts that may limit the staffing at gun towers in the future, possibly shutting them down during the evenings and overnights. MCO says closing the towers would hinder the public's safety, because they say the towers are the first and last line of defense.

The Michigan Dept. of Corrections says they don't know whether or not any budget cuts would affect gun towers, because a budget is not finalized at this time.
