A late night car crash claims the life of two Holt teenagers just one week before the new school year starts. Meridian Township Police say a 34-year-old Mason man caused the crash as he was fleeing from another accident in East Lansing.

It happened Monday night on Hagadorn Road just south of Bennett Road. Robbie Bolanowski,16, and Alysha Salt, 19, both of Holt were killed when the Mason man crashed head on into the car they were riding in with four of their friends.

Alysha was a 2003 graduate of Holt High School and Robbie was getting ready to begin his junior year. Joseph Bolanowski, Robbie's dad, says he and his family are taking it one day at a time trying to cope with the tragedy.

Meridian Township Police continue to investigate the accident and also will look into whether or not the Mason man at fault had been drinking.
