A former Lansing police officer will spend four days in jail for being involved in a fatal crash in Mount Morris while drinking and driving.
Johnnie Torres pleaded guilty Thursday to charges of impaired driving, stemming from a February accident on I-475 at the Clio Road exit. Investigators say Torres collided with a car being driven by Mark Kline of Mount Morris after Kline ran a stop sign. Kline died.
In addition to the days in jail, Torres will pay $1,075 in fines and court costs, spend 12 months on probation and take part in a series of rehabilitation programs.
Both Torres and Kline had been drinking.
Torres was fired by the Lansing Police Department.
