Lansing, MI - A 93-year old local man is a softball star here in Mid-Michigan.
George Londy of Fowlerville is the oldest member on his softball team, but he's still batting, hitting, and running the bases.
The 93-year old is one of the players on a softball team through the Lansing Parks and Recreation Department made up of players who are over 70 years old.
The league is made up of four teams and Wednesday their summer season wrapped up with play off games at Gier Park in Lansing.
Players on the 70 plus softball league tell me playing ball is a great way to get out of the house, and exercise.
There are sixty players in the league, and the oldest is George Londy.
He has been playing since he was a teenager, and shared the secret to his longevity.
"I guess my wife takes pretty good care of me," says Londy.
And for these players, age isn't stopping anyone.
Playing is not only great exercise but a great way to get out in the community.
Lansing parks and Rec is seeing more and more seniors signing up to get into the game.
The department and all of the players encourage all seniors to join the league. They have special rules that make them game work for everyone, and players come from across Mid-Michigan.
