President Bush will make his fifth visit to Michigan in six weeks when he holds a rally Monday afternoon in³Traverse City.
The president last was in Michigan a week ago, when he spoke to more than 6,000 people during a rally Thursday evening in Saginaw.
This week, other members of the president's re-election team have visited. Vice President Dick Cheney held a rally Wednesday in Battle Creek and First Lady Laura Bush campaigned Monday in Royal Oak.
Although Bush lost Michigan to Al Gore by five percentage points in 2000 and a new poll shows Kerry leading Bush 49 percent to 42 percent, the Bush-Cheney campaign sees an opportunity to win Michigan in November, campaign spokeswoman Merrill Smith said Thursday.
Monday's visit will be Bush's 19th visit to the state since he became president. The location for the rally still was being decided, Smith said.
