An unemployed 27-year-old mother from Monroe who scribbled a three-page letter on notebook paper to President Barack Obama has gotten something she never expected: a handwritten response from the commander in chief.
Jennifer Cline says it took about five minutes to write the letter detailing how her family was faring despite job losses and her battles against two kinds of skin cancer without health insurance.
Cline told the president she returned to college and her unemployment benefits were extended.
The Detroit Free Press says Obama's signed, two-line handwritten response was addressed to "'Jennifer" and read: "Thanks for the very kind and inspiring letter. I know times are tough, but knowing there are folks out there like you and your husband give me confidence that things will keep getting better.'
