WARREN, Mich. (AP) -- Authorities say two Warren parents who left their 3-year-old boy at a restaurant following his birthday celebration could face charges.
Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said the 33-year-old woman and 41-year-old man took the boy to Caesarland for a party on Saturday in the Detroit suburb about 10 miles north-northeast of Detroit.
A manager spotted the abandoned child about 9 p.m., and employees contacted police.
Dwyer said the parents, who live in separate apartments in the same complex, told police that until Sunday each believed the other had the child or that he was with a grandmother.
Dwyer said the mother didn't contact police and waited until noon Monday to call the restaurant. The father arrived about an hour later.
The child remains in foster care.
