A one-time bank employee in the Grand Rapids area has pleaded guilty to embezzling nearly $950,000.
Amanda Renee Burns worked at a Fifth Third Bank branch in Rockford. Records show she pleaded guilty Friday in federal court.
Authorities say Burns began stealing money from the vault in 2004 and covered her tracks by falsifying bank records and manipulating audits. A message seeking comment was left with her lawyer.
