FOWLER, CLINTON COUNTY - Six of the seven school buses in Clinton County's Fowler School District had their tires slashed, and their windshields and headlights smashed Thursday morning. Two 18-year old men were arrested, and charged with malicious destruction of property, minor in possession of alcohol, and probation violations. One suspect is from Fowler and the other from Hubbardston. Their names have not been released.
The suspects were not too hard to find. Clinton County Sheriff Wayne Kangas says that while deputies were at Fowler high school investigating the damaged buses, they noticed a suspicious vehicle driving around. They stopped the car, noticed some irregularities and were able to get the two inside to admit they had committed the acts of vandalism.
The Sheriff estimates about $5,000 damag was caused to the school buses. He says Fowler schools needed to borrow St. Johns school district buses to get the kids to school.
The suspects may be responsible for even more vandalism. Deputies are investigating property damage at two community parks in the Village of Fowler.
By coincidence, fog delayed school in the district by two hours. St. Johns School district was able to provide buses to transport tyhe students. The Fowler school buses are back in service and will run on time Friday morning.
