Jillian Granz is trying to return to normal after a worldwind few weeks. 21 year old senior at Michigan State University, Jillian Granz went from textile and apparel design class to the Oscar's red carpet with award-winning director James Cameron and his wife Suzy Amis Cameron.

"I got an actual phone call from Suzy herself and she congratulated me and told me what I would be doing," said Granz.

Suzy Amis Cameron's red carpet green dress contest attracted hundred of eager designers throughout the world and her charge was really simple:

"The idea is to create something really gorgeous and beautiful, stunning and also to be kind to the earth," said Amis Cameron.

But it wasn't an easy task even though it only took Granz one hour to sketch the design.

"Finding red carpet worthy fabric is quite difficult," said Granz. "We had to do research on sustainable fabrics, dyes, chemicals that go into textile making process."

Jillians world pretty much revolved around campus life here at MSU. She never imagined that after entering a worldwide contest her life wold turn upside down -- at least for a little while.

"Everyone kept asking -- what'd you win? And I'm like I don't know because I didn't even look at the Web site because I didn't know I was going to [win]. I just submitted my stuff," said Granz.

Her college life was briefly interrupted for eco-fashion.

"The white showing through the blue is actually peace silk fabric which makes it sustainable....It's more eco-friendly because it allows the silk worms to live out their life cycle."

And going organic is the first step.

"Is a single red carpet dress going to save the world? No, but it's going to challenge the fashion industry and by extension, the entire clothing industry," said Director James Cameron.

Granz said she wants to continue to integrate eco-friendly materials into her future designs.
