Meridian Township votes Tuesday night on the future of a 50-acre piece of land. The issue is open green space versus the potential for more money for Okemos Schools.
The land on Hulett Road in Okemos is owned by the school district. The Meridian Township board will vote on whether to rezone the area for single family housing.
Okemos school administrators say they are hoping at least 80 homes will be built here, with no more than 100.
The final vote has been delayed several times because school district leaders continue to work with concerned neighbors. Some neighbors say they are not against development, but want it to be responsible.
